FIGUERAS Vacation Res.

Porlamar, Vzla. 1995

The lot is located in a second residence sector, which was developed rapidly, thanks to the real state boom due to approved tourist policies. The mountain hillside is highly valued for having distant views of the sea and a much milder climate.

Parallel to the development of the island, a style arose as a constructive and typological phenomenon, widely accepted and with a certain prestige.
With this project, the aim was to go further than the simple fact of building houses with native and salvaged materials: logs of wood, clay tiles, stucco panels, etc.; but to take advantage of the cultural heritage of the inhabitants of these places.
Raising the house off the ground, due to humidity, was the first decision. Avoiding conventional enclosures and replacing them with others that generate new spaces, depending on their open or closed position. Two bodies articulate the house, attenuating the traditional notion between public and private spaces: a cubic one with a height hipped roof that favors ventilation contains the social area and another gabled and longitudinal which houses the rooms, served by a corridor that connects both volumes.
